Day 19 – Gratitude

What a day!

Truth be told, I could sit here and write about how tired I am, how much I have to do, how little time I have to do it in…..But seriously?

Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah……….

Instead, I am going to flip the circumstances and pose a few questions.

What am I grateful for?

How did I make a difference today?

What’s really important?

Those are just the top three things that come to my mind.

Tonight, when I finally got around to opening my mail, I found that I had received a bookmark containing the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi on it.

As I read the bookmark, I instantly remembered that this is a favorite of mine that I haven’t heard in years!

Honestly, I am really tired and I have big things ahead of me tomorrow.

But the reality is that I need to remind myself in the middle of all the changes in my life to stop and be grateful in the journey.

To as St. Francis put it, “Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.”

In other words, in the midst of all the changes in my life, it’s not all about ME!

Because as St. Francis further says, “For it is in giving that we receive, In pardoning that we are pardoned, It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.”

Very true….

So tomorrow when things are hectic and challenging, I am going to remind myself that I am grateful for:

Another Day
My family
Mr. Brodee (dog)
My friends
My home
My job

Because, in the end…..that is what matters!

Goodnight and Journey On!!
