Day 5 of My Reboot

Today is the halfway mark of my reboot!

In 5 days I have lost 5 pounds!

I have been starting each day with hot lemon water and then having my Morning Cocktail for breakfast.

For lunch, I have a salad loaded with leafy greens with balsamic vinaigrette and some of my homemade soup.

For dinner, I have stuck to simple things like an avocado sandwich on Ezekiel Bread and soup. 

Snacks consist of raw almonds, strawberries,  bananas, apples, cucumbers, carrots and radishes.

Bottom line…..I don’t ever get so hungry that I am tempted.

Overall, I feel really good.  In just 5 days time, I have seen a reduction in the inflammation in my hands and feet.  My back and knees still bother me, but if memory serves me correctly, it takes a couple of weeks before I notice a big difference there.

The main thing I have noticed is that I sleep so much better.  Not so much tossing and turning….Yay!

I was telling a friend about my Reboot the other day and he said, “How are you going to get your protein if all you eat are vegetables and just drink juice? ”

When I told him that a steak has less protein per 100 calorie serving than broccoli, he was in shock!

But it’s true! 

Steak has 6.4 grams of protein per 100 calorie serving compared to broccoli’s 11.11 grams of protein per 100 calorie serving.

Dr. Joel Fuhrman has an excellent book called, “Eat to Live” which has transformed a lot of lives.  It’s full of information like this and wonderful recipes.  I highly recommend it.

Last night I watched the most recent episode of Extreme Weight Loss.  It was about a 41 year old guy who weighed 448 lbs.  He wrote for help because as a sheriffs deputy, he could not pass the fitness test.

This guy had knee problems….even knee surgery and yet…he made the choice to prevail. 

As a result, he lost 253 pounds in one year and got his life back.  He lost his first 125 in 90 days!

I know I’m not him, but it was inspiring to see somebody bigger than me with knee challenges set a record for the most weight loss on the show.

They say the journey of 1000 miles starts with the first few steps….I have taken 5 steps on this journey and with each step I am closer to a life fully lived!
